About StockingReport.com
Our Mission
StockingReport.com was created to solve a simple problem: anglers in New Mexico want to know when and where fish are being stocked, but finding this information can be challenging. While the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish publishes weekly stocking reports, these reports are only kept online for a limited time, making it difficult to track historical patterns or plan fishing trips effectively.
We built this site to archive and organize all stocking data in one searchable, permanent location. Whether you're planning your next fishing trip or researching the best times to visit your favorite water, we've got you covered.
What We Do
- Collect Official Data: We automatically gather stocking reports published by NM Game & Fish every week
- Build Historical Records: We maintain a permanent archive dating back to 2020, including data that's no longer available on the official site
- Make It Searchable: Find any water body in seconds with our fuzzy search and interactive map
- Provide Details: See exactly what species, sizes, and quantities were stocked, along with the original PDF reports
- Keep It Current: Our system updates daily to ensure you always have the latest information
How It Works
Behind the scenes, we use automated scripts to:
- Download new stocking reports from the official NM Game & Fish website
- Extract and parse the data from PDF documents
- Organize stockings by location, date, species, and quantity
- Geocode water bodies so they appear on our interactive map
- Generate individual pages for each water with complete stocking history
All data is sourced directly from official New Mexico Department of Game & Fish stocking reports. We don't modify or estimate any numbers - what you see is what was officially reported.
Who We Are
We're anglers and technologists who love fishing in New Mexico's diverse waters. Frustrated by the difficulty of tracking stocking patterns, we decided to build a better solution - not just for ourselves, but for the entire angling community.
This is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish. We simply provide easier access to their publicly available data.
Data Accuracy
While we strive for accuracy, please note:
- Geocoding: Map locations are estimated and may not be perfectly accurate. Always verify directions before heading out.
- Report Timing: We update our database daily, but there may be a brief delay between when NM Game & Fish publishes a report and when it appears on our site.
- Historical Data: We've been collecting data since 2020. Earlier stockings may not be in our database.
For the most official and up-to-date information, always refer to the NM Game & Fish official stocking reports.
